Dance is a perennial source of joy for young and vibrant Bharatanatyam Artiste, Divya Hoskere. She is one of the foremost disciples of Guru Sri P. Praveen Kumar at the Chithkala School of Dance, Bengaluru, where she began her journey with dance the tender age of 5. Divya is a graded artist of Doordarshan and a recipient of the “Scholarship to Young Artists” awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India in the field of Bharatanatyam. As a soloist, Divya has performed extensively across India and abroad. She has also had the privilege of performing with her guru, Sri P. Praveen Kumar across Italy and Romania. Her performances have been critically acclaimed and lauded to have made an impactful impression, leaving the audiences yearning for more.

Performed as a representative of India at the Festival De Fes Des Musiques Sacrées du Monde (Fes Festival of World Sacred Music) in front of the Princess of Morocco and at Paris 8 University as a Bharatanatyam Artiste as part of a group of 4 artists led by Prof. Katia Legeret.
Divya began her first steps in Bharatanatyam at the tender age of 5 under guru Sri P Praveen Kumar. Recognized by her Guru, she did her Rangapravaesha at the tender age of ten and won the acclaim of senior artists and connoisseurs. She is now one of his foremost disciples and continues to grow under his tutelage at the Chithkala School of Dance.

Academic Pursuits
Divya's journey as an artiste has been nurtured with several arenas of growth and learning. Her innate passion for the arts led her to go into a deep study of Classical Indian literature, aesthetics, philosophy and of course, the Natyashastra.
Divya has been awarded the Junior Research Fellowship by the University Grants Commission and is pursuing a PhD in Dance and Indian Aesthetics at the National Institute of Advanced Studies, IISc Campus, Bengaluru.
Divya has an undergraduate degree in visual communication design ( B.Design from PES University) and a master’s degree in Performing Arts - Bharatanatyam (MPA Dance - Jain University, Bengaluru).
Divya believes in a multidimensional growth as an artiste and aims at integrating the wisdoms of all her academic pursuits into her path of dance.

Dance & Puppetry
Divya has imbibed the art of traditional string puppetry of Karnataka having trained under her mother, Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Smt. Anupama Hoskere at the Dhaatu Puppet Theater for over 18 years. She conceptualised and choreographed a puppet and dance production "Sutradhari Vaidharbi" which received critical acclaim and appreciation from critics and connoisseurs alike in Chennai and Bengaluru. Divya has also assisted her mother in experiments in creating puppet and dance interactives. She has travelled extensively across the world performing as a dancer and puppeteer in shows of the theater.
